European Union Itinerary for Ms. Silvia Kofler; Minister & Head of Press and Public Diplomacy
Tuesday, October 8th
- 5:30 pm – Lewis & Clark Law School (Free to the Public); Featuring Ms. Silvia Kofler, EU as the Distinguished Global Law Lecture (“The European Union’s Role Today In Peace and Security Issues in the Middle East”); Ms. Kofler will discuss current Middle East Peace Issues and take questions from the audience led by co-moderators: Professor of Law John Grant and Gary Alan Spanovich, Executive Director of the Wholistic Peace Institute. This will be followed by a reception.
Wednesday, October 9th
- 7:30-9:00 am – MAC Club ($35); Featuring Ms. Silvia Kofler, EU – “Doing Business In Europe” in a Peace & Economic Forum Breakfast. Business leaders are especially encourage to attend this to see how new trade opportunities can allow them to develop new relationships for peace through trade. Ms. Silvia Kofler will discuss the EU’s trade policy in general and how this relates to the EU’s role regarding peace and the winning of the 2012 Nobel Peace Prize.
- 10:30 am to 11:30am (Arrival by 10am; Seating by 10:15am; Program Begins at 10:30am) – Athey Creek Middle School – 2900 SW Borland Road, Tualatin, Oregon – (Free for students and teachers – RSVP necessary); featuring Ms. Silvia Kofler, EU on “The Importance of Peace Education”. Also the Harold Schnitzer Spirit of Unity Award will be handed out to ten middle and high schools for their student peace work. These awards honor the late Harold Schnitzer’s commitment to peace and peace education and it is the fifth year the award has been given. Students from each of the ten schools will give a brief presentation and both Ms. Kofler & Nancy Olmsted Spanovich of the WPI will hand out the $500 awards and certificates.
